Sydney Sweeney just launched a sizzling campaign with American Eagle, and let’s just say… things got a little cheeky. The ad for AE’s new “Sydney Jeans” went viral fast — with the line:“Sydney Sweeney has great jeans.”
Yeah, you read that right. And just in case you missed the pun, some videos cheekily swapped in “genes” instead of “jeans.” Sydney even crosses it out on-screen and jokes: “My jeans are blue.” 🤭
But not everyone was laughing...
🤯 SOCIAL MEDIA MELTDOWN OVER A PUN?
Some critics started losing their minds over the "genes" line, saying it was “racially coded” and tied to old-school beauty standards. Talk about a reach! People claimed it sent the wrong message about genetics, whiteness, and blue eyes. Huh??
Reminder: it’s a denim ad. Not a science documentary.

BACKLASH? WHAT BACKLASH? SALES WENT
While Twitter raged, American Eagle was laughing all the way to the bank — the campaign helped rake in $600 MILLION in revenue in just 24 hours, with a 10% spike in sales. Clearly, people weren’t that offended.
Oh — and AE dropped a limited-edition “Sydney Jean” with proceeds going to Crisis Text Line, a mental health and domestic violence nonprofit. So yeah, it’s not just fashion — it’s also for a good cause.
CONSERVATIVES CLAP BACK: “Y’ALL ARE CRAZY”
Politicians and celebs on the right defended Sydney fast:
Ted Cruz called the outrage “pathetic.”

Donald Trump Jr. trolled the haters with a meme of his dad in “great jeans.”

The White House (yep, seriously) called the backlash “moronic” and said “this is why Americans voted for Trump.”

Weird flex… but okay.
I mean it was just an ad with an attractive woman, and wokes and liberals starts raging about it like crazy, no wonder why the democratic party is not doing good.
