President Donald Trump says the U.S. will send Patriot missile systems to Ukraine—but with a twist: European nations will foot the bill, not America.
Speaking at a rally in Miami, Trump said he had spoken with Ukrainian officials and agreed to provide the air defense systems if another country pays. “We’re sending them. But I got somebody else to pay,” he said.
Trump has recently delayed certain U.S. weapons shipments, citing the need to replenish U.S. supplies first. Still, he emphasized that Ukraine needs defense support, especially after renewed Russian attacks.
He also commented on Russian President Vladimir Putin, calling him unpredictable and dangerous. Trump is expected to meet with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte in the coming week.
